BRO. ESSIE WESSON, JR.


FOR HIS OWN PURPOSE, GOD HAS CALLED Bro. Essie Wesson, Jr. home to be with the Lord. He fought a good fight, he finished the race. He kept the faith.


Essie Wesson, Jr. was born on April 8, 1949 in Los Angeles, California to Essie Wesson, Sr. and Mary Brown Wesson. Essie departed this life on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was educated in Los Angeles, California school system. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army in 1969 with the 83rd Engineering Brigade at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. While serving his country, he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was Honorable discharged in 1975 Ranked as E5.


Essie was reunited to the love of his life Maudie Hammonds. To this union were born three (3) children. He also had two (2) bonus children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Essie Wesson, Sr. and Mary Brown Wesson; two sons, Anthony Hammonds and Gregory Wesson and one special grandchild, Isaiah Juwon Stoddart. After retiring from the Army, he became employed with the Headland Peanut Oil Mill where he worked for over 30 years as a Peanut Oil Technician. Wesson loved to sing, dance, fish and shoot pool in his leisure time. His favorite pet, Shorty also preceded him in death.


He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife Maudie Wesson, Dothan, AL. Three children: Lorenzo (Angela) Hammonds, Lamont (Marilyn) Wesson and Pamalia Wesson Harris all of Dothan, AL.; and a host of grandchildren, special nieces, nephews, cousins, In-Laws and sorrowing friends and the Headland Community Church family of Headland, AL.

 

VISITATION WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2024 FROM 3 TO 6 P.M. AT HORACE WILLIAMS MORTUARY, 1457 E. MAIN ST., DOTHAN, AL.


FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2024 AT 11:00 A.M. AT SHILOH MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, MIDLAND CITY, AL


INTERMENT WITH MILITARY HONORS WILL FOLLOW AT NEW HOPE CEMETERY, 631 NEW HOPE RD., MIDLAND CITY, AL.


REPAST WILL BE AT SHILOH MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH'S FELLOWSHIP HALL, MIDLAND CITY, AL
